Excellent post Patrick, you’ve summed the benefits of having a self-hosted WP site very well. I think the only thing keeping some people away from it is the fear they might not be technical enough and will mess something up with it. Other than that, I can’t see a good reason not to use .org as your CMS.

    • Patrick says:

Thank you Vladimir. About being technical enough to handle a self-hosted site, I agree with you. I think there are materials that can help. And by the way, hosting companies these days offer excellent support to their clients. They help their clients from the start all the way.

I was wondering, I run my own server, installed my own WordPress … do you think I could move it there keeping my full domain name ?

    • Patrick says:

Yes. Very possible. All you need when buying the hosting package is to check out the option that you have an existing domain. Proceed with the purchase and then install WordPress. After that you can now export your files, which will be in a zip file, then upload them on your newly set WordPress. Also, the amazing thing is that the Bluehost support team will always be with you to assist you during the migration process. I hope this helps.
